What do you do with my organic waste?
The waste is processed into soil by feeding it to worms who turn it into highly fertile soil, which can be used by farmers to grow bigger, more delicious produce or by local gardeners for the same purpose.
What is community Composting?
We collect the organic waste of many people and businesses effectively diverting it from the waste stream in an effort to reduce the amount going to landfills which lengthens their effectiveness and reduces the harm they have on the world. We also make available the compost created to farmers and gardeners in an effort to increase crop yields and soil health.
I have a small household of 2. How would the scraps I produce help?
Just in the US we produce about 120 billion pounds of food waste per year. We all want to try and help but the problem is so large. However if we as a community all do a little, a lot can be accomplished. Your 4-5 pounds of waste a week adds up to 260 pounds a year. This waste being diverted will now remove dangerous greenhouse gasses but also provide an extremely fertile growth medium for plants which only aid the planet even more.
What can and can't be composted?
We can compost things like fruits, veggies, coffee grounds and filters, tea bags and spices. well take your yard waste plant clippings and most paper products such as biodegradable take out products and cardboard. Don't include things that are metal, plastic or rubber.
